Children in grades 3-6 are invited to work on their homework and reading practice with members of the Teen Advisory Board. Children meet with their teen Helpers with support from Ms. Cheryl and Jess. Teen Helpers can assist children with things such as homework sheets, read-aloud and comprehension practice, and sight, spelling, and snap words. Teens assist but are not trained to teach. Weekly on-time attendance is expected since a teen volunteer will be coming each week to meet specifically with your child.

You sign up for the whole winter series (weekly 3/5 - 4/30 except off 3/26 for spring break). We sometimes can accept walk-in students at 5:40 p.m. as we have space, first come, first served. Registered students have priority until that time.

Children are expected to bring their schoolwork, spelling or sight words, and their own supplies and materials. We do NOT meet during Mason City School breaks.

Parents registering multiple children: When you register more than one child, you'll be able to enter information only about the first child. Our calendar will register the additional children as Guest 1, Guest 2, etc. with no option to fill in specifics. Either put the additional child's info in Other or call or stop in the library and we can edit their info so that they get their own name, grade, and learning info. Sorry for the trouble.

Parents are expected to remain in the library during Homework Help.
