Listening at the Library Featuring Pianist Polina Bespalko

Musician and Xavier University Professor of Piano, Polina Bespalko, will perform selections for library visitors on this early fall afternoon, Saturday September 27. Bespalko began performing at 8 years old in her native Russia and quickly became a name in the classical community. She was, for a time, a soloist for the Moscow Philharmonic Society and has given performances in Sweden, Brazil and Sicily, where she won a Gold Medal in the Rachmaninov Concerto Competition. She made her American debut as part of the Russian-US Cultural Music Exchange where she performed in Washington D.C. and, eventually, twice as part of the 2002 Olympic Games. She has since completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts and continued performing in addition to becoming a Professor of Piano and Keyboard at Xavier University where she is also the Director of the Xavier University Music Series. We're excited to present her here for a performance in the main area of the library and give music fans a chance to see an expert musician and artist up close as well as serve as sublime background music for an afternoon visit to the library. Seating will be provided but the music can be heard throughout the building.
